Prague has been nominated as one of the twenty finalists for the title of European Best Destination, which is being awarded for the seventh year running by the Belgian organisation of the same name.

The public will decide on the result of the poll, with people able to support their favourite travel destination by voting at the website www.vote.ebdest.in up until 10 February 2016.

"If Prague manages to win the poll, as Bordeaux did last year, it would be a great boon, and not only for those who work and do business in the tourism industry. Thanks to the title of European Best Destination, the French managed to attract more visitors last year, especially from Europe, which is the most important source market for Prague as well," said Prague City Tourism spokesperson Kateřina Bártová.

Prague's competitors include urban and seaside destinations such as Milan, Nantes, Paris, Zadar, Brussels, Kotor, Berlin, Madrid and Edinburgh. The competition was won by Bordeaux last year, with Porto receiving the most votes in 2014.
